Carol is a practising barrister with over 10 years of experience.

Carol was admitted to the University of Hong Kong via the Early Admission Scheme and later obtained a full scholarship for her LLM studies at the University of Cambridge as a British Chevening Scholar. She was then awarded the Bar Scholarship and the Charles Ching Memorial Scholarship by the Bar Association.

Carol has a civil practice with a particular interest in property law and building management, commercial law, equity and trust and family law. Carol was appointed by the Judiciary as a Deputy District Judge in February 2024 and a Deputy Adjudicator of the Small Claims Tribunal from July to September 2022. She is currently Chairman of the Buildings Appeal Tribunal and Member of the joint Appeal Board on Bedspace Apartments, Clubs (Safety of Premises) and Hotel and Guesthouse Accommodation. She was a member of the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee which is chaired by the Chief Secretary from 2018 to 2023. She was also a member of the Vetting Committee of the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Activity Sponsorship Scheme and the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Research Sponsorship Scheme. She has held office in various committees of the Bar Association, including the Special Committee on Land, Trust & Probate Law, Greater China Affairs Committee / Mainland Affairs Committee, China Practice Development Committee, Legal Education Committee and Young Barristers’ Committee. Carol was a part-time lecturer of the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong in 2015-2016.

She has given lectures on common law to law students at Peking University since 2014 and at East China University of Political Science and Law from 2015 to 2018.

With her fluent Putonghua (scoring 89/100 in the National Putonghua Proficiency Certificate examination), Carol has been actively involved in Mainland China affairs. She was the first batch of Hong Kong barristers appointed as a China Legal Consultant (in Wintell & Co) in the Shanghai Lujiazui Legal Forum 2015. She was a speaker at the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum 2018 held in Guangzhou and she participated in various mock arbitration demonstrations in Qingdao, Shanghai, Nanjing and Nansha to promote Hong Kong arbitration. In 2022, Carol passed the Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination.

Carol has given over 20 CPD courses to solicitors and accountants on various topics. She is a contributing editor or author in various legal practitioners' texts, including the Hong Kong Civil Procedure, Annotated Ordinance of Hong Kong and Atkin's Court Form.

Carol's courses
